Unlike Harry Met Sally, Bridesmaids doesn’t revolve around a wedding, but the movie is packed with hearty laughs and chemistry. It follows the story of three friends who are brought together by fate. In order to save her marriage, Amy enlists the help of two other women, one of whom is a lifelong friend.
Crazy Rich Asians
If you’re looking for a fun, romantic comedy, consider seeing Crazy Rich Asians. It’s based on a novel by Kevin Kwan, and it explores class differences and cultural expectations. The cast includes Meryl Streep and Jeff Bridges. This movie is a great example of Asian representation in films.
Crazy Rich Asians is a rom-com about a star-crossed romance, meeting the future in-laws, and a lavish wedding. The movie’s plot follows the escapades of Nick Young, a handsome, Singaporean heir to a Singaporean real estate empire, and Rachel Chu, a Chinese American economics professor from New York. They travel to Singapore, where they meet Nick’s family.
While an Asian-led rom-com is nothing new, the new opulence of Crazy Rich Asians makes it stand out from other movies in the genre. The movie’s lead, Constance Wu, was a TV star before she was even considered for a movie role. The time it took for her to be cast is a testament to Hollywood’s historic biases.
The joyluck club grossed $32,901,136 worldwide and was named one of the top ten films of 1993 by the National Board of Review. It depicts the traditional Chinese culture through the eyes of its daughters and their mothers. The movie also features Parry Shen as Ben Manibag, who falls in love with Stephanie despite the challenges he faces. Its release drew praise from critics, including Roger Ebert, who praised the movie’s defying of harmful stereotypes rooted in western culture.
If you’re looking for a movie with a different kind of storyline, you should consider watching The Farewell, a comedy-drama that was written and directed by Lulu Wang. It’s based on her own experience and follows the life of a young woman trying to break out of a traditional Chinese family. Similarly, you may want to check out Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, a 2021 action-adventure film.
A sequel to Crazy Rich Asians has already been greenlit by Warner Bros., while New Line is preparing for a romantic comedy about singles day (a Chinese holiday celebrating being unattached). In addition, you can look forward to seeing Jennifer Lopez and Keanu Reeves in Destination Wedding and Second Act.
Four Weddings and a Funeral
Four Weddings and a Funeral is a British romantic comedy film directed by Mike Newell and written by Richard Curtis. It follows the story of a group of friends who attend the titular weddings and funerals. The movie is one of the most popular romantic comedies of all time, with an incredible cast.
The film explores the importance of love and the challenges of keeping it, framed in the weddings of four friends. Though the plot is similar, there are some differences between the two films. For one thing, the television version is set in London, while the movie takes place in a town in America. Although the plot largely stays the same, the floppy-haired fellow and the gorgeous American love story have changed a bit.
Simon Callow, who played Gareth, has continued to act on stage and screen. His previous credits include Shakespeare in Love and The Phantom of the Opera. The film’s main character, Matthew, finds love after his dead lover Gareth, but still honors Gareth’s memory in his own life. Hannah, meanwhile, has appeared in films like “The Mummy” and ABC’s short-lived medical drama “MDs.”
Despite its similarity with “Friends” and “Sponge Bob Squarepa,” the film does not feature a lot of detail on the characters’ daily lives. It’s a romantic comedy with some drama mixed in. It’s an enjoyable watch for anyone who enjoys a bit of humour and some laughs.

“There’s Something About Mary” is a 1998 comedy film directed by Peter and Bobby Farrelly. Starring Cameron Diaz as the titular character, the film also stars Ben Stiller, Lee Evans, Chris Elliott, and Matt Dillon. The movie has received generally positive reviews, and has grossed $369 million worldwide against its modest budget. It also ranked 27th on the American Film Institute’s list of 100 Years, 100 Laughs.
“There’s Something About Mary” is about two men who have fallen in love with Mary. In the beginning, they’re both attracted to each other, but eventually they realize they’re incompatible. They go on to hire a private investigator, Pat Healy, who subsequently falls in love with Mary. Pat Healy uses lies and cheating to get Mary, even stalking Mary’s dog. Eventually, his actions are exposed by an unlikely source – Mary’s architect friend Tucker.
When Ted discovers that Healy is lying about Mary, he drives down to Florida to find Mary. While he’s there, he picks up a hitchhiker who leaves a dead body in his car. He is mistakenly arrested for the crime, but is bailed out by Dom when the police catch the real killer. Despite the circumstances, he manages to track down Mary and the two begin dating.
While There’s Nothing About Mary relies on crude and off-color humor to make its point, it’s still effective as a sweet romantic comedy. However, it isn’t for everyone. It’s also not a movie for the easily offended, and it’s not a good choice for children.
