It compares two youth cultures in a fun way. The plot is well-written, and the chemistry between Cusack and Driver is real.

While this film is filled with the same premise as many comedies, it is a tad darker than the norm. In addition, the movie makes multiple references to older Fred Astaire films. This is not the typical romance flick, but a welcome break from the standard fare.

The film isn’t the first time Hart has played a schoolgirl. She’s played this role since 1992. But it seems that she’s trying to emulate the “sophisticated” teen dramedy style of Clueless and Cruel Intentions. While Grenier gives a solid performance as a rebellious outsider, Hart’s role is somewhat less believable.

While a romantic comedy can be fun to watch, this movie isn’t very funny or witty. It doesn’t really have any substance and relies heavily on artificial ingredients and preservatives to keep it entertaining. This movie, too, could have been a good horror film instead of a teen film.

2001: A Space Odyssey
